Cambridge University carried out research on 2 million subjects – imagine the costs? They came up with this unremarkable conclusion. A HPF ham sandwich COULD raise the diabetes risk by 15% Based upon the consumption of 100 grams of processed ham daily the NHS chimed in with those who consume 90 grams of red meat and pork, veal, sausages etc and processed meats should cut down to just 70 grams or less. About 1 in 9 adults have type 2 diabetes which equates to about 630,000 people so if they all cut back to eating less meat there might be a chance that 630,000 would drop by 15% = 537,000. I wonder if, like me, you think the research was worth it? I’m not sure it was because I don’t think anyone will take any notice of it due to a lack of impact.
