Fast Food. Slow Death

Published - 2025

I began to research in detail the whole industrial food business from harvesting to consuming and not forgetting the waste. But I begin with a short outline of how every individual cell in our body functions and how it is compromised by the wrong fuel - what we feed it. This makes it clear that our body simply does not function properly unless we feed it properly which explains how chronic conditions arise over time.

A bit about the book

Having written WHAT’S IN MY FOOD it occurred to me that of equal importance is to know what is NOT in my food, so I started to examine that. To my horror, I found that the nasty things that are often found in our food are almost as threatening to our health as the things that are and should not be.

This all leads to the conclusion that ‘fast or ‘junk’ or ‘highly processed’ food has things that should not be there and also lacks the things that should be there so a double whammy if you like.

Then I began to research in detail the whole industrial food business from harvesting to consuming and not forgetting the waste.
But I begin with a short outline of how every individual cell in our body functions and how it is compromised by the wrong fuel – what we feed it. This makes it clear that our body simply does not function properly unless we feed it properly which explains how chronic conditions arise over time.

Having established that I turn to a system to enable the reader to comprehend the value of the foods consumed making choice simpler.
Then I get onto the morality of industrial food production and its land use, farming systems, waste, its impact on our health, the treatment of animals, the impact of global warming and the growth of the industry in areas where health issues are caused by inadequate health services.

Finally, I ask why governments refuse to take preventative measures to ensure health services become sustainable and why they continue to follow the orthodox systems which make no sense. Just ask the question – ‘Why do hospitals continue to have fast food outlets within their corridors and serve fast food in their canteens?’

I conclude that it may have something to do with support for the corporations that benefit from increasingly unhealthy societies around the globe.

This book would be particularly helpful for students of nutrition and all authorities with responsibility for health services both mental and physical.

Feeding on high consumption of fast foods will lead to chronic illnesses and the cost to you, health services and the Planet is unacceptable.
